Talk by ‘The Barefoot Dutchman’

I walk barefoot with a purpose.

Join us for an inspiring evening with Anton Nootenboom, a 34-year-old Dutchman, born and raised in a small town called Goes in the Netherlands and now living on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Anton served in the Dutch army for ten years, including three missions to Afghanistan and he has spent the last five years working in construction. Throughout his time in these industries, he has seen and experienced men’s mental health issues firsthand. After experiencing more of the world and his own personal battles, he felt the driving urge to make a change. This led him to start his own missions in 2019, going on extreme barefoot walks to make a difference and help create the world he wants us all to live in. 

From the 8^th of May until the 17^th of October 2021, Anton walked from Cairns to Sydney barefoot. 3019km along the east coast to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health. 163 days, 5.5 months of walking and 2 new Guinness World Records to activate, motivate & inspire others to feel more comfortable about being vulnerable and speaking up when they need support. The challenges he faced on this walk represent the challenges we face in everyday life. He would like to show that you can do whatever you set your mind on. That we are braver, stronger, and capable of so much more than the limiting beliefs we hold ourselves too.

End of Year Drinks 2021

Following Anton’s Talk, please join us for an informal drink at the Abode Bistro.Bar – ParkRoyal Darling Harbour to say goodbye to the old and ring in the New Year. All are welcome so bring along your (non-Dutch) friends, family and co-workers.
