Dutchlink brought Dutch supporters together at The Castlereagh in Sydney to follow the Netherlands during the World Cup, with a strong turnout and plenty of orange throughout the tournament.

While the Dutch team’s campaign ended earlier than many had hoped, there was still a lot to enjoy. The final group matches in particular drew great interest, with supporters coming together to cheer on Oranje, catch up with familiar faces and share the familiar mix of hope, nerves and football analysis that comes with following the Netherlands on the world stage.

The strong turnout, particularly for the final group games, showed how much interest there was in watching the tournament together in Sydney.

The Sydney screenings even made their way into the Dutch media, with one early Oranje supporter featured in a World Cup column in Panorama. The piece captured the slightly surreal experience of watching the Netherlands from the other side of the world: empty Sydney streets, very early kick-offs and Dutch supporters finding each other in orange before the rest of the city had properly woken up.
