About the KNRM

The Koninklijke Nederlandse Reddings Maatschappij is a non-profit foundation dedicated to assisting people and vessels in distress along the Dutch coast. Its history stretches back to 1824, when two regional rescue societies were founded after a tragic shipwreck off Huisduinen. In 1991, these societies merged to form the KNRM. Operated entirely by volunteers, the organisation is on call 24/7 for search and rescue missions and other maritime assistance at the request of the Netherlands Coastguard. While its early work focused on professional shipping, today the KNRM increasingly assists recreational sailors and water sports enthusiasts.

About the Venue

The presentation will take place at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia in Rushcutters Bay — Australia’s premier ocean racing club and Sydney’s finest function venue on the harbour, home to the iconic Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. With its stunning waterfront setting and relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere, the Club is a perfect spot to enjoy a drink or light bite before the presentation begins.

Located on New Beach Road, Darling Point, next to the scenic Rushcutters Bay Park, the Club is less than 10 minutes by taxi from the CBD (non-peak times) and around 25 minutes from the airport. Edgecliff Station is a short 10-minute walk, and frequent bus services also operate nearby. Water taxi pick-up and drop-off are available on the marina.

Limited street parking is available along New Beach Road.
