Another Dutch tradition will be celebrated in Sydney: De Nieuwjaarsduik! Every year, hundreds of Dutch celebrate the new year by diving into the ocean at 10am. That is, the Dutch ocean. Sydneysiders are luckier in this case: The Sydney New Year's Dive will start the first of January at 15:45/4pm at Bondi Beach. There will be a big countdown after which all attendees run into the water at 16:00/4pm.

There will be an after party at Side Bar at 19:00/7pm with bitterballen and Dutch beer. People can sign up for both events via the Facebook Group "Sydney Oud en Nieuw + Nieuwjaarsduik UNOX 2017-2018"
All Nieuwjaarsduikers were a bright orange Unox beanie. Because they had to be shipped from the Netherlands, the beanies will be sold for a small fee.

People can now choose to buy a beanie:
- For 6 dollars: dive just for yourself
- For 10 dollars of which $4 will be donated to the charity organisation Compassion. This charity fights poverty amongst children worldwide.

When ordering the beanie, people can choose to make an additional donation. This will be to sponsor Lieske Grijsen and her sister who will be running half a marathon in Ethiopia. All donations made towards this run will go towards Compassions as well.

People can buy a beanie through the following link. Once the payment has gone through, their name(s) will be put on a list and they can collect the beanie(s) at WakeUp hostel in Sydney from the 23th of December.
