    During this year’s Cleveringa lecture, Dutch professor Rob Roggema (UTS) will present on Sydney’s Third City and the propositions for the future of urban life. With an abundance of international examples of designing a city that is climate proof, incorporates sustainable energy usage and features urban agriculture, Roggema will take guests on a journey through the ‘city of tomorrow’. After all, a smart future is only possible if people live in sustainable, climate resilient and convenient cities.

    This year, it is 40 years ago that world famous soprano Maria Callas died. To honour this legend, soprano Ayse Göknur Shanal and the Dutch mezzo soprano Claire Munting, accompanied by pianist John Martin, will present a program with beautiful arias and duets on Friday 6 October (8:00pm) in the Grand Hall of the Mosman Art Gallery in Sydney.

    In October, the 10th anniversary of the Sydney Chamber Music Festival will be celebrated with a great program titled ‘Phantoms’. On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October a fantastic line up of artists will perform at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum in the Sydney Chamber Music Festival 2017.

    All the way from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Hartog plate is currently still on display at The Australian National Maritime Museum. The plate is on special loan from the Rijksmuseum and is the first European artefact that was found on Australian soil. It will be in Sydney until the 29th of October.
